BOYBLANCK AND DRV STRIKE AGAIN WITH SOME FRESH NEW SCHOOL IN ‘DESKTOP’

Desktop, released by Boyblanck and DRV, is the duo’s latest single based on new school sonics. Released on 12th May, the Delhi-based artists came up with the 2-minute-long track flexing their prowess and putting up an example for the scene, as far as autotuned melodies are practiced.

DRV and Boyblanck drop a groovy single before their joint EP release

DRV and Boyblanck never fail to deliver, be it Court Kacheri, a single released last year, or Ranikhet from DRV’s sophomore album ‘Nakshatra’. In Desktop, they popped off once again in terms of flows and delivery. While the production features a simple tune looped throughout, with vocals sampled in, Boyblanck starts with a hook so catchy that one can’t help but keep on reciting it. The artists do not compromise when it comes to melodic flows with unsparing bars. Also, just for the sake of it, the duo even decide to execute a ‘call and response’ or just trading bars as some might call it. It just adds up to the whole vibe they intend to carry through.

Boyblanck & DRV

This track comes right after the news of Boyblanck’s new role in the upcoming Anurag Kashyap film ‘Kennedy’, which has been officially selected to be screened at ‘The Festival de Cannes’, where he has contributed to all the original music of the film. Also, DRV has had his industry debut in ‘Farzi’ a new OTT Show. They talk about their connection with the underground scene and the now new industry work they have stepped into, through some flex bars:

Jaata trap beats pe hu spazz jab meri film crew na kare pack up”

– DRV

“Karni choddi maine small talk jabse hit kari maine big screen”

– Boyblanck

Breaking down Dektop’s Cover Art

The cover art of the single aptly represents the theme of the track, as Jaskirath Panjrath takes inspiration from a scene in the movie ‘Wanted’. The art highlights a desktop that seems to be hit by something, presumably the track itself as it is vibey in nature. It is based on the theme of the artists’ mutual ideologies of being rebellious against slave-like work cultures and rather unarticulated hierarchy in a job.  This theme is well resembled by a lyric DRV executed:

Meri music shit lagi hone bop, nahi karne wala tha mai desk-job”

– DRV
