NCR lad Dhroof drops his debut mixtape “Kaandi Mixtape” marking a major milestone in his career. In the mixtape, Dhroof explores different types of sonics and shows a glimpse of his daily life. Through his previous works like “HER” he had shown his ability to make music that could be considered lyrical with sentimental themes, and with “Kaandi Mixtape”, Dhroof takes these themes a notch higher!
Dhroof in Kaandi Mixtape Tries to Make A Foray into Gangsta Rap
“The Kaandi Mixtape” starts off with a small skit where he tries to convey a gangster-like theme and the title song of the Mixtape is a Gangster Rap song. It has a very strong feature by KSAR but it still fails to deliver the punch required to make Gangsta Rap.

“Kaali Creta” is another attempt at gangster rap which resounds better with the audience. He adds an interlude between Dark Rose and Kaali Creta to transition again from the soulful tracks like H&M and Dark Rose to Gangster Rap.
Soulful and Lyrical Songs Elevate the Mixtape
Deviating from the Gangster Rap genre, Dhroof adds soulful tracks like “H&M” with Shruti which portray his talent. He also tinkers with trap in “Shillu”, it elevates the Mixtape, shows his true talent, and sets the tone for the exit track.
“Kabar” is the final song of the Mixtape and is definitely the showstopper. He articulates and rhymes with systematic flows. His raw talent bares its teeth at the Hip Hop scene with this track. “Kabar” has a very lyrical flow and is mismatched in the Mixtape.
Conclusion
The gangster rap is a very good attempt but doesn’t really show Dhroof’s real talent. He really tried to give us the best Gangster flows but it wasn’t relatable. But at the same time songs like “Kabar” and “Shillu” were lyrically composite with well managed flows. The production is really good and basic and helps the mixtape create the underground vibe.
