In an ecosystem where producers rarely get their due flowers despite being the backbone, it is high time that we as an audience start recognizing and acknowledging them. Hence offthedome presents 5 underrated Indian hip-hop producers you need to know more about!

Indian Hip Hop Producers - Karonik

1. Dox

Dox is an artist that can inspire flows from rappers, Mausambi Drip is a very simple synthesizer melody with minimal bass and systematic claps yet it elevates the production of the track exponentially. His style of mastering the 808 beats and harmonies is also evident in 1997, the way he uses samples to create the 90s sound is extremely on point. Dox is arguably one of the best 808 drums users in the country, he can create magic with that machine.

2. 3BHK

3BHK has the ability to manipulate tunes and create soothing chaos. The way he uses so many samples in a song that overlap tends to give different beats in Kaali Maserati yet the flow of the melody or the pacing of the track does not seem inconsistent. 3bhk simply has the talent to mix samples in a way that flows and is not disturbed by any beat drops. LTB is an example of how a very fast-paced track can be made with different samples instead of infinite looping. 3BHK’s production is a case study on how to use samples.

3. Natiq

Natiq has mastered the art of beat drops and loops, in “Aajkal” the way he uses an Indian classical sound as a loop says a lot about his ability to create melodies. The way he uses a similar sound in “Kaise” and expands to use vocals as a melody is an amazing experiment. He has the ability to layer different loops on the same track. It is a very inspired form of production.  Natiq could write a thesis on how to loop tracks.

4. Karonik

Karonik is one of the few artists that manage to transform EDM into hip-hop beats effortlessly. His mix of heavy bass and EDM loops in songs like Besabar and Mere Log gives a very hardcore beat. At the same time, he has the ability to provide a beat that is instrumental with the electronic touch and supports more R&B flows like Baat and Raat. Overall, his versatility and his talent with EDM give him a very unique sound.

5. Vedang

Vedang is one of the most versatile and experimental producers in the country. He experiments and adds new elements with every new song, it doesn’t really matter what song you listen to, everything is new.   He has the ability to build the atmosphere of a track, he can make the sound grime with the first beat like “Bade Bade Shauk” and use soundscapes in songs like “Shayad”. He definitely has a lot of experience with sound and it shows in tracks like “Really Brown” where sound travels from one side of the headphones to the other. Vedang has an infinite talent for experimentation.

Divyamaan Singh

Remember when, Pete Davidson said Kid Cudi saved his life, Seedhe Maut saved mine. I'm Divyamaan, I listen to music and watch movies and I love football. I believe art is only art when someone falls in love with it. I write to express myself, poems, stories, reviews and everything else. My writing is my creative outlet. I hope whatever I write here inspires an artist to give us music and give every single one of us a song to relate to. When Encore ABJ said "Main simplify karu tere liye, aa mere paas baith, chahe sar se upar paani ho maarta rahiyo haath pair", it gave me the strength to never give up. I hope all of you find your Encore ABJ and every artist finds their Divyamaan.
