Naharpur Prints, released on the 12th of May, is the fourth album released by Udbhav Acharya aka Nanku. All the tracks are produced by Natiq, with Toorjo co-producing on ‘Dhishkyau!’. The album showcases the fun side of Nanku, who has recently joined Yo Yo Honey Singh and has been working towards commercial Music.
Nanku’s Fun and Ambient Side Shines Fully in Naharpur Prints!
Every artist has creative phases they go through, be it storytelling, preaching one’s personal ideologies, talking about break-ups, flex music or just any genre musicians explore. In DHH though, Nanku has been seen creating indie pop music, hip-hop music, RnB tracks and so much more. He has always experimented with his music, and this time around, his fan’s favorite fun and ambient side took over.
Natiq is known for his melodic beats in the scene, he always adds a distinct melody in his tracks making it sound colorful. In ‘Naharpur Prints’ he uses such samples and melodies that give a few of the tracks a somewhat old-school sound. Whereas, In ‘Dhishkyau!’ Toorjo collaborates on the beat with additional guitars that give the track a whole different sound.
“Meri kya galti is zamaane ne dil ye aisa toda
Nanku on ‘Dhishkyau!’
Mai na koi shayar bas zamane se hu khafa thoda
Meri bhi sad kahani
Chodo na kya hi sunani”
All the songs have almost the same sound, indicating a certain mood the artists want to deliver. The album starts with a voice recording that features Nanku, Karun, and Natiq, presumably in a car, and driving around Naharpur. Naharpur is apparently a quite cherished place for these artists as it reminds them of their ‘Teesri Duniya’ era, which is mentioned by Nanku in the track.
This is followed by 8 tracks and a skit that complete the album. Nanku talks about Love and Intimacy in this new romanticist phase of his discography. A case in point is ‘Zubaida’ where he creates rather Bollywood-sounding music with funky lyrics:
Mujhse tere liye khat likhwa raha
Bechara dil bechara
Kuch dino se mere haath nahi aaraha
Koi chance na scope na chara
Aawein apna ghamand ghiswa raha
