Winners are never satisfied with success and it is a trait they are endowed with. While some lose their sanity over this and lose their trajectory, others use this as a motivation and strive for further glory. While they may not necessarily discard their success, they always consider it as a consolation in their pursuit of excellence. Noida-based Boyblanck’s project “Consolation” lingers around a similar philosophy as well.
The three-song EP showcases different phases of success from hard work (Kullad] to tasting it because of self-love [Hum Dono] to moving on to new goals [Double Doze]! The project music has heavy melancholic undertones signifying its trap nature [both musically and metaphorically]
MUSIC
Sonically, “Consolation” is a pleasant and soothing listen. All three beats are very spatial and minimal in nature albeit with an adequate dosage of hi-hats, drums, and kicks. But don’t interpret minimalism with blandness. While it is true that in essence, all three beats have long low-pitched keys, the drum patterns, hi-hats, and melody in all three songs are unique which blends the vibe perfectly making it a cohesive unit!
LYRICISM
When you are trapping on beats like the ones used in “Consolation”, it is very easy for the sound to feel bland unless you have banger melodies and lyricism. Luckily for us, Boyblanck had both of them in ample quality. All three songs have catchy hooks [my personal favorite being Double Doze] and breathless icy flows owing to slick rhymes from the Noida boy.
My only gripe with the project has been that maybe an extra verse in Double Doze would have added more gravity to the emotions!
FINAL VERDICT
All said and done, “Consolation” is a collection of melancholic symphonies dedicated to all the hustlers and hardworking folks out there. It is a catchy project sprinkled with time-immemorial hard-hitting life lessons and is a project that certainly needs to go to your 3 am playlist when you are procrastinating life after a day of hard work.
