A Sammohit opening verse, a Shah Rule hook, and a feature verse by Ikka – this song was bound to be a banger from the announcement itself!
Thematically, “Spaceship” as the name suggests presents itself as an out-of-this-world experience and the verses are a testament to this fact.
Spaceship is a fun twist to the normal flex rap by following a theme of space and relevant out of world metaphors. With DHH being saturated with generic flex rap, Spaceship is a fresh change with its groovy 808s and clever brag lyrics filled with space puns and references.
The song also deserves kudos for choosing a very rarely explored theme of space in OHH and it was backed well by a good promotional material by Gully Gang. GG.
Music –
Kanch Music, the producer of the song does an impeccable job with the beat. The young producer does a fine work in capturing the feel of the song with groovy high hats and a banging snare pattern.
While the beat in the first three listens sounds nothing special, but as you go on, the beat grows on you and works it magic on you! Kanch also deserves a special shoutout for surprising us with this other worldly vibe after making his official debut with Stunnah beatz in Divine’s Rider!
Lyricism –
Ikka is arguably amongst the most complete rapper in the scene right now and he yet again proved this with his bars and cadence. A clever third wall-breaking Naezy reference, shoutouts to Jay Z, and Eminem and a variety of space references capped off this fun verse by Ikka.
Sammohit is among the few rappers from Mumbai who manage to convey their undying Bombay spirit of effortless hustle in every song and impressively, he does the same in Spaceship!
The less said about Shah Rule’s hook, the better! It’s incredible how the Gully Gang OG never misses with his hook! While the chorus is a simple three-liner, the melody is catchy as hell and has fun entendres to make it a memorable hook!
