6 Questions with Ahmer

We spoke to Ahmer about his latest release “Priceless”/ “Rant” and the message and learnings that are portrayed in the two tracks and also about Ahmer’s future plans beyond the successful release. Here is the full interview:

Can you tell us about the inspiration and creative process behind your new songs “Priceless” and “Rant”?

I feel like the inspiration has always been us only. It’s the people you work with. It’s just that at times we don’t pay heed to it. The creative process that we have been evolving in has become pretty simple I guess. It’s all about being in the moment and making beautiful music for all the listeners who enjoy music.

“Priceless” and “Rant” seem to touch on different themes. Could you elaborate on the messages you aim to convey through each track?

Priceless is a victory song, despite all the odds that are out there. It showcases love, and resilience that I’ve had in me since day 1. I’m trying to focus more on that and some styles and genres have inspired me a lot that I hadn’t tried or played around with till now, I love to experiment. Rant is very personal to me, and I guess to everyone who listens to me, who comes from where I come from. At least with music, I try to connect bridges as I’ve always done, with collaborations and working with many artists over the years. I want people to know our stories, and with time they will. I’ve dropped music after a very long time, and I believe your feelings and emotions are important, and you should rant, cuz that’s how this world gets to know in my opinion, especially these days. That’s why rap music helped us so much. Unless and until you don’t let it out, it won’t help.

“Priceless” and “Rant” showcase your versatility as an artist. Can you share any insights into your musical evolution and how you approach experimenting with different styles?

Oh, there’s a lot more! We are going to take it slow but we won’t delay our evolution and good music. I feel like I can keep it very subtle and simple here, I was raised on this, so being versatile won’t be hard, the only thing is that we haven’t put out this kind of music, even when I was eager to. I always to do me, and just make good music, and this just feels like I’m going back to me again, the music I fell in love with and there are so many people out there who would love to discover this and listen.

Priceless” and “Rant” each have unique and compelling beats. Could you shed some light on the creative process behind the production of these tracks, and any specific elements or influences that played a significant role in shaping the beats for these songs?

I have been working with 30KEY! for a while now and this is exactly how it goes with us. We have already cooked a mixtape, working on the album too, and too many singles also. I’ve been trying to collaborate and I’m doing my best but things out there, I don’t know, feel different now. There are things happening behind the scenes that don’t interest me and have heavily jeopardised a lot, people who know it, have done it, know it. That’s why we get comments of appreciation but everyone is scared to share music haha. It was important to bring it up but rather than wasting our time thinking about that, our focus is to drop as much music as possible. Stay positive.

The process was just having fun in the studio, and coming up with this in minutes, hours. I loved it, Bobby loved it, and it’s out, simple. It’s important to have super talented people around you, I’m thankful Ezra Montoyo worked on this and Akash Shravan, the most patient and kind g out there, took the precious time out to mix these gems. The artwork too, waddupjtn and I go way back and it was good to have him on board he killed it. I think for the beat process you guys should reach out to the producers haha that’ll be important.

What do you hope listeners will take away from “Priceless” and “Rant”? Are there specific emotions or thoughts you want to evoke through your music?

Honestly, I don’t know, just have fun. If it makes you feel good and you are happy new music is out then that’s all that matters. I just want all the young and budding musicians from my region to be smart, I guess that’s where Rant also comes out. It’s my experience just like my last statement reflected. Artists need to take care of themselves and maybe learn from my mistakes. That’s life.

Can you give us a glimpse into your future projects? Are there any upcoming collaborations or themes you’re excited to explore in your music?

Well, we will drop another single pretty soon. Hopefully a good music video. Apart from that, the mixtape has been our main focus and there is so much on the mixtape that I want to reveal and let out that to date hasn’t been out there from my end so I’m excited and glad that we are about to finish it and hopefully in February we will drop. Till then new music will keep dropping. Collaborations are tricky man haha, I try but I don’t think we are there with that yet. If it’s meant to be it’ll happen, I’d rather lose less energy on all of that. I just want to drop new music back to back.
