Pink Plastic Kiss is like a Taylor Swift toxic relationship anthem for the boys

Pink Plastic Kiss is the embodiment of a relationship that just doesn’t fit right yet is something you can’t let go of. It’s that Yoko Ono and Lana Del Rey type of love. An ensemble cast of Abhinsane, Arpit Bala, Bhappa and Sihie take on a pop beat and a toxic theme to give us an anthem for all those relationships that take you to rock bottom and you don’t even flinch.

The upscale female vocals by Sihie start off the track in a way that reminds us of those viral pop songs and transitions into a beautiful verse. The first verse is small yet thoughtful, the problems we face when we’re in love start with miscommunication leading to fights which leave scars of anxiety on our hearts. Sihie initiates the next verse in a way that shows the type of girl that makes you bleed through your scars without you ever having any regrets.

The song rests upon an emotion of love which catches you at the wrong place, wrong time. When love places you in the confines of hopelessness and misery but gives you the kind of happiness that you hadn’t expected. You find yourself in a situation where your relationship becomes a product of its circumstances and no matter what you do there’s no going back. Love becomes a chain that you have to break to free yourself from the shackles of worsening mental health. The value of the good times you’ve shared becomes extremely sentimental but a memory that can no longer be reality. But among all the chaos and the heartbreak the love for that one girl never changes. She came to hold the hands of a crumbling man and helped him build himself into the man he could be.

The melodic verses mixed with the pop production give the track a lot of appeal. The lovely vocals of Sihie add a touch of feminine personality to the track and elevate the replay value of the track exponentially. It sets an amazing direction for Abhinsane’s verse with complimentary lyrics describing the love and hate relationship he wants to portray. Arpit Bala and Bhappa give the song a subtle edge with their lyrics. It talks about how things didn’t work the way they would’ve wanted them to but don’t regret it either. A combination flow between Bhappa and Arpit Bala shows how well they work together.

Pop-style production goes hard.

The pop-inspired production was the perfect setting for a song which references Barbie and the love-and-hate relationship with that one person in your life. The production is contrary to the lyrics but that’s what makes it so good. The smooth electronic harmony layered with reverb and piano makes it really catchy. The drums are aligned with the perfectly synthesised beat and make the song a perfect toxic love anthem.

Divyamaan Singh

Remember when, Pete Davidson said Kid Cudi saved his life, Seedhe Maut saved mine. I'm Divyamaan, I listen to music and watch movies and I love football. I believe art is only art when someone falls in love with it. I write to express myself, poems, stories, reviews and everything else. My writing is my creative outlet. I hope whatever I write here inspires an artist to give us music and give every single one of us a song to relate to. When Encore ABJ said "Main simplify karu tere liye, aa mere paas baith, chahe sar se upar paani ho maarta rahiyo haath pair", it gave me the strength to never give up. I hope all of you find your Encore ABJ and every artist finds their Divyamaan.
