In Masroor, Katoptris blends a tune that elevates the track and transcends into an experience. The song is a product of evolution in Yashraj and his musical genius. He goes back to his roots as a lyricist and explores the powerful sonics produced by Katoptris. The talented emcee uses his trademark flow that we’ve seen in his previous tracks like “been too long” and “part of me”. His flow coupled with a new found cadence gives us an absolute “in your feels” track making it an automatic addition to my “late night vibes” playlist.

From a lyrical perspective, Yashraj develops another introspective verse and delves into his relationships with people. He challenges the very premise of relationships and how bonds change so rapidly. The verses are an expression of how fame has affected the connections in his life and how even the most important relationships in life change. He explains how he can sit back and see hard times shape his friends and himself into a solid institution creating a new legacy. Sharing life with unknown people developed into bonds in a period which seems overnight is how he has built these pillars of support and love around him.

The undertone of him being happy for his growth and the growth of his loved ones. “Masroor” means being glad and Yashraj is happy that no matter what has changed over the years, the people he loved have held on to him and become what they could be.

The production is packed with a heavy melody which has beautiful high cresendos and soulful troughs, the transition from the emotion packed hook to the verse is characterized by an unnerving high crescendos and a drop which elevates the vocals of the artist. The hook is definitely one of the best composed hooks we’ve seen which binds in a way that the subsequent verse is elevated in quality automatically. Katoptris has definitely been one of the most experimental producers in the scene. The quality of the composition is excellent.
