‘RESCUE MISSION’ BY KARUN IS A STELLAR SEQUEL TO HIS ICONIC PROJECT ‘QABOOL HAI’

The beauty of hip-hop is the artistic freedom the genre provides as it is not limited to any particular sonics or format. Music has always been a way of escapism for many, but for some, creating it helps. After Qabool hai, Karun has done many projects, one of the most notable ones is his debut commercial track  ‘Chaand’ that he released under YoYo Honey Singh’s label. While it seemed like Karun had moved on from the heartbreak he mentioned in the album, his fans were already missing the poetic side of the artist.

On the 7th of May, Karun released ‘Rescue Mission’ an EP that acts as a sequel to his iconic and the most loved album ‘Qabool Hai’. This EP follows Karun after his heartbreak, as he heals from the unfortunate things happening in his life. Karun as an artist has always been expressive as far as his real emotions are concerned, and this project is a delight to his core audience that feared their beloved Poetic Karun’s disappearance.

Rescue Mission has 3 tracks, Produced by Natiq, Kriday, and the intro by Nanku himself.

‘Aawaazein – Intro’ features voices of Yashraj, Dhanji, Chaar Diwaari, Arpit Bala etc. The intro has these artists talking about the album and Karun himself, the way he expressed himself, etc. Nanku adds a melody to this which makes it all the more special.

The first track, ‘Rescue Mission’, which is produced by Kriday, features the much loved Poetic side of Karun. He sounds vulnerable and emotional through his lyrics, as he talks about regretting and being ashamed of a few choices he took out of love. The storytelling of the track is superbly executed and it puts a full stop to the heartache side of his musicality.

He keeps reciting ‘It’s a rescue mission’ amid his storytelling, but in the end, it changes to:

‘It’s a rescue mission
I need someone
I met someone
It’s me
I’m not the same myself…’

In Parda, the second track of the EP, the listener observes a quite unpretentious personality switch. He sounds relatively happy in it, and it candidly embarks his new side, the one that is cheerful and unaffected. Parda is produced by Natiq, and is a melodic track. The hook adds a vibe that completes this track and qualifies it to be considered a good ending to the storyline.

The two tracks of the EP highlight the emotions of Karun

They flaunt how he has dealt with his vulnerability and the way he has changed into a better version of himself in that context. Therefore it acts as a transition in his musicality and individuality. A few lyrics from the tracks that back this statement are:

“Choti height wala
Future Bright wala
Bandi ke peeche lene wala flight sala”
 – Karun in “Rescue Mission
