What happens when two of the most cool and composed artists in the scene come together and create a joint? It sparks Magic! and that’s what Krida is. The chill beat, laidback hook, and effortless flow from both rappers cast a spell on the listeners as it transports us to an atmosphere of credence in our minds.

What’s magical about the border-breaking collaboration between Rebel 7 and Dhanji is its ability to seamlessly exude the swagger and confidence of the artists to the listeners. “Krida” [translation – sports] is a song where two veterans from different artistic backgrounds meet over drinks and just laugh down at the tantrums these new-gen boys pull off. Rebel 7 and Dhanji know they are the masters of this game [krida] and hence spit as they mean it. If I had to sum up the theme of the song with a quote; it would be this –

“I heard you’re a player.
Nice to meet you, I am the coach.”

As far as lyricism is concerned, both Rebel and Dhanji deliver a 10/10 verse. While Rebel had a clever and fresh take on the tried and tested set of generic DHH punchlines, Dhanji with his inimitable flow spit some hard lines about his mindset, mob ties, and manners. The hook by Rebel 7 [in a similar zone ala Champagne Papi] in the first listen sounded very weak to me but it is a slow burner that takes time to become an earworm. The minimal production by Allvvinn featuring a slow boom bap on the backdrop of a gritty low-pitched chord sample fit the vibe perfectly.

Normally, tracks like these have heavy bass and drums and are filled with energetic flows by the rappers. But Krida is a track that breaks the norm and chooses to take a laidback route and why not? After all, an empty vessel makes the loudest noise!
