‘DILLI’: YUNGSTA JOINS FORCES WITH FRAPPE ASH AND CALM TO MAKE A NEW STREET BANGER

After dropping the first single from his debut studio album “Meen”, Yungsta is back with the second single – Dilli. Dilli is a collaborative effort with a banger of a roster featuring a lineup of Yungsta, Frappe Ash, and Calm on a Sez-produced beat. When Delhi’s rap stalwarts team up, expectations are bound to soar and luckily for us, “Dilli” delivers and how!

Yungsta - Meen Tracklist

Yungsta, Calm, and Frappe Go Ham!

Where the majority of DHH rap acts still follow the good old verse-bridge-hook and repeat structure, Dilli follows a lesser-known structure of hook – refrain – verse x 3 – hook – refrain. Not only the song structure, but even the construct of the rap verses have been top-notch. While it’s not surprising to know that the chemistry between Yungsta, Calm, and Frappe is incredible owing to their long-term partnerships, but to effortlessly translate it on a song, by collaborating on 8 bars each while extending the rhyme schemes and messaging is simply mind-boggling work.

I have been hearing Dilli on loop for the last 5 days and all I have been wondering is how good their chemistry must be to pull this off seamlessly?

Coming back to the theme, Dilli is your typical DHH track where the artists share their come-up story and flex on their hard-earned success. However, what sets Dilli apart is the lyricism and the flow. Yungsta and Calm arguably are amongst the best rhymers in the industry and Dilli is a prime example of that. Calm’s multi-syllable rhymes helped him flow on the beat while he effortlessly flexed his success. Yungsta meanwhile mixed hard-hitting lyricism and energy with his rhymes which left the desired impact on me. The show stealer however was Frappe who with his vocabulary and raw drops of wisdom simply sets the song on fire!

Special shoutout to Yungsta for a very catchy hook. It’s an earworm with simple and impactful lyrics which I have been screaming every time it comes. Kudos!

Sez is a beast boy!

I once read an interview of Kanye where he said that the most important aspect of beat-making is the drums. If the drums ain’t right, the song ain’t being made and I totally get it. While chopping up a sample is more of an intuition-based task, placing the drums is pure creativity and talent. The fast-paced banging kicks, the boom-bap nature, and the usage of ceremonial drums cohesively backed by a delirium-filled symphony is simply magnificent. Be it the guitar riff in Ruhbaru, or the kicks in the Dilli, Sez has brought a fresh and diverse sound that matches the lyricism brilliantly. Sez is truly a genius!

Conclusion

If the first two songs of ‘Meen’ are anything to go by, Yungsta is surely gonna reach new heights both in terms of numbers and artistry. Wishing nothing but success to Yungsta for his upcoming debut album.
