Delhi-based shauharty has arguably been one of the most successful artists from the underground desi hip-hop scene to have owned the alt hip-hop space. Be it MADHEERA or Prastuti, Farookh’s music has a textural tonality that draws inspiration from absurdism and variegated references from Indian culture.
What makes him stand out is the fact that his art is a staunch reflection of these influences. It is projected onto his musical persona, his writing, and his song structure. His latest drop Chaska, a collaboration with Delhi’s heavyweight producer Natiq is yet another addition to an already genius discography of Shauharty with both the artists at their absolute comfort and best.
Shauharty and Natiq stitch symphonies romanticizing solitude
The laid-back soul-sampled instrumental sees shauharty keeping it funky with his wordplays and rhyme schemes and punches one after another as he flows throughout the song covering subject matter ranging from being solitarily thriving at this road of the scene to proximal acquaintances appealing to him seeing his progress.
Natiq’s instrumental has a character of its own, bringing out colors and textures which paint a canvas of its own. The track also sees additional vocals from another New Delhi havoc, unfuckman on the intro and the refrain section, which adds to the song a flair of its own. Overall the track could be defined as another installment to the sound that shauharty has finessed, with second to none in the Indian underground scene i.e. the alternative sub-genre of hip-hop.
Conclusion
People often mistake solitude for loneliness but there is a big difference between the two! While loneliness is the poverty of self, solitude is much more empowering; as it is the richness of self. shauharty sees this perspective and pens down Chaska – a song that acknowledges the thin line between loneliness and solitude. The song in my opinion shares how addictive and empowering solitude is. Nothing makes you more powerful than being comfortable with yourself sans expectations. Beautiful.
