On one hand, we have most artists in the Indian hip-hop spectrum barely having a single album out, then there is Sikander Kahlon who just dropped his 22nd project. Yes, you read it right – 22 Projects in his career so far. SK has always surprised the scene with his consistency and music which has resulted in him garnering a huge fan base. King Kahlon comes back with a mixed bag of emotions for the listeners in his latest album “God Is Watching Through Birds”.
The lyrical range from heartbreak to gangster to political is just evidence of unimaginable talent. SK has already proved himself as a legend of Punjabi Hip Hop. King Kahlon absolutely murders the beats on this album.

Sikander Kahlon in GIWTB Mixes his Hardcore Flow with Heartstring Plucking Bars
The album is a mixed body of art with some hardcore bars which elevate your state of mind into the Bandanna-wearing SK. The flow is nostalgic and takes us into the origins of Punjabi Hip Hop at times, in tracks like Andhera Qayam Rahey and Currency. Personally, I felt the way I first felt when I heard “Pesa Nasha Pyaar” when I heard SK going into that West Side Flow. SK has done something really unique with this album. The sound feels so fresh, uplifting, and familiar at the same time.
Sikander Kahlon comes from a long line of Punjabi Rappers and the evolution of Punjabi Rap is very evident in his flow switches. In the entire album, SK has adapted his flow to suit the tracks, there are elements that are subjective to opinions. When I first heard it, it took me back to the time when Bohemia put out Pesa Nasha Pyaar. SK’s flow reminded me of Bohemia and the Punjabi Hip Hop I grew up with.

Then once again the depths of referencing that SK casually touches are insane. Sikander Kahlon touches on issues and events that are ingrained in his psyche as moments of life-changing importance. Kahlon references the love he got from his city, Mohali, and his roots while he grows into a full-fledged international celebrity. He goes from one track to another explaining his personal growth. Some light-hearted tracks make the album more intriguing and lift up the mood from time to time.
Kahlon has definitely gotten some great features into the album which work in tandem with his own repertoire. He adds Harjas on a track that really hits hard and adds a lot of flair to the queue. SK has also put in a feature from an artist only true Punjabi Hip Hop fans know, Kaka Sady makes an appearance after a very long time and lends his voice to SSA making it a part of Punjabi Hip Hop legacy. But the best feature has to be Aghor on Andhera Qayam Rahey. The way it fits is extremely fluid and natural. It’s a certified banger.
The Melodic Tracks Definitely Give the Album a Lot of Body and Versatility
Kahlon has incorporated some great tracks which wouldn’t have made a hardcore album and given something for everyone. This album has so many different types of tracks that every single track is playlist worthy. Tracks like “Over”, “Ki Kariye” and “Sun Sajna” are heartbreak ballads that give such a rounded experimentalist production to the album.
Then there are some tracks made for the DHH audience which struggle with the language barrier such as “Second Day of School”. Then there are tracks for hardcore Sikander Kahlon fans such as “Iran”, “Nakaraatmak 3” and “Andhera Qayam Rahey”.

In the end, SK caps it off with the trademark bonus 2023 flow. This is a very complete album by Sikander Kahlon which really explores sounds, flows, and themes. 2023 Flow is a great outro and lends a great final performance to the album and provides a classic finish to the artwork.
